19, makeup artist and business student, the beautiful Kassandra Kashian is now a finalist of the Miss World Australia 2014 competition! Naked Tan has met with this incredible goddess and will be sponsoring her during the competition!
How did you get the idea to enter the Miss World Australia competition?
Last year I participated in the reality show ‘Beauty and the Geek’ and since then I have been studying business full time and working as a makeup artist and skin care specialist part time. This year I wanted to try something different, challenge myself and have new experiences. I applied for Miss World Australia as I was drawn to the charity work that was involved with the competition. I feel so blessed to lead such a privileged life so I love to give back to those less fortunate than myself.
You are currently involved in doing charity work for Variety Australia, which helps to raise funds for kids who are either sick, disadvantaged or have special needs, by selling some of your clothes at markets. How do you feel this helps raising awareness for a great cause?
I have always been involved in charity and always feel as though if I do my part to help others I am making a difference in the world. It is a very personal thing to sell your clothes, as I was handing over each garment I couldn’t help but to think of the memories than belonged with them. It was then that a more important thought came to me, hopefully the memories these garments would now hold for the new buyers would be of the cause they were purchased for. I thought this was a unique way of creating awareness for Variety and to my delight it raised over $700.
What qualities do you possess that you believe can help make you win the Miss World Australia Competition?
The Miss World Australia competition judges its contestants over a range of different challenges. It gives me confidence as I appreciate being examined in different areas I feel passionate about. I believe my modelling and acting background and past experiences of featuring in mainstream media will help to prepare me for some of the tasks we will be judged on. I believe my love for exercising and healthy living will assist me in the fitness components of the competition. I believe my genuine and empathetic nature will help me to stand out. Most importantly, I hope the initiative, creativity and passion I have applied to my fundraising efforts will be recognised. I have put my heart and soul into this journey and am so grateful to have had this experience.
Your talent for the Miss World Australia Competition is acting where you will be doing a monologue called ‘Tassie Surfers’ by Ken Friedman. What made you choose this monologue over others and how do you feel like you connect to it?
I really enjoy to act and become different characters. I love suprising people with the different accents I can do and personalities I can portray. I thought doing a monologue would showcase these talents of mine and would differentiate me as no one else is doing a monologue. I also want to be able to show a different side of my personality. I have chosen this particular monologue as it is a comedy piece that will hopefully have the audience laughing.
What is your life motto?
Everything happens for a reason. I think we, as humans, tend to worry too much about every little thing that goes on in our lives. I think when we step back and look at the bigger picture we recognise that bad times always pass and good times are right around the corner. We have to experience both sides of everything to feel true happiness and become who we are meant to be.
How long have you been using Naked Tan?
I have been using Naked Tan since I was 14! I LOVE Naked Tan spray tan! I love the colour, the smell and the fact that I don’t have to wait 8 hours to get ready. I hate sleeping in my tan, Naked Tan is so convenient. And I always have beautiful compliments every time I have a Naked Tan spray tan.
How are you getting ready for the Miss World Australia finals on the 27th July?
I have been preparing since the state finals! Since then I am trying to go to the gym 5 times per week, eating healthy food, practicing my monologue every day and focusing a lot of time on my charity work and charity event preparations.
I also have to start picking the dresses and shoes I will be wearing. This requires a lot of fittings and planning.
On the first day of the finals, Pru from Adore Nails and Beauty tanning will be coming to spray me with Naked Tan spray tan. I’ll then be tanned and ready!
It is all planned; I just can’t wait to get there! I always feel very confident when I have a Naked Tan spray tan on.
