Congratulations.

You are bronzed. You are luminous. You are temporarily higher maintenance than usual.

This is a delicate period.

A fresh spray tan or self tan is not the time to test your limits, make impulsive decisions, or behave recklessly in the shower.

If you would like your glow to last longer than 48 hours, please review the following.

1. Do Not Pee in the Shower

We are starting strong.

Your first rinse is not your usual shower routine. It is a controlled, strategic rinse. The water should be lukewarm. The timing should be efficient. The behaviour should be refined.

Standing there for an additional ten minutes because you decided this was also a bathroom opportunity is not necessary.

You are in your glow era. Act accordingly.

2. Do Not Turn the First Rinse Into a Spa Retreat

This is not the time for:

  • A deep conditioning mask

  • A ten step shaving ritual

  • A body scrub

  • A life reset

Hot water breaks down tan. Steam breaks down tan. Lingering breaks down tan.

Your job is simple.
Rinse. Pat dry. Exit.

3. Do Not Panic When the Brown Water Runs Off

That is guide colour.

You are not washing your investment down the drain. You are not reversing the process. You are not fading before your eyes.

Trust the chemistry.
Step away from the drama.

4. Do Not Immediately Wear Tight Jeans

You did not just commit to even, streak-free skin to then compress yourself into rigid denim and sit in it for six hours.

Fresh tan plus friction equals regret.

Choose loose fabrics. Soft waistbands. Breathable materials.

This is not the moment for skinny jeans and a car seat that traps heat.

5. Do Not Book a High-Intensity Workout the Next Morning

Fresh tan and excessive sweat are not friends.

Friction from leggings, repetitive movement, damp skin and tight sports bras will test the structural integrity of your glow.

If you must exercise, keep it low impact. And shower promptly in lukewarm water afterwards.

Better yet, schedule your workout before your tan like a responsible adult.

6. Do Not Cross Your Legs for Hours

We do not talk about this enough.

Ankles pressing into calves. Knees folding tightly. Inner thighs compressing.

Pressure marks are real.

The first 24 hours require mild awareness. You do not need to stand at attention. Just avoid creating unnecessary creases.

7. Do Not Shave Aggressively the Next Day

Your skin is not a countertop.

Heavy pressure with a fresh razor can lift pigment unevenly. The result is patchy fading and confusion.

If you need to shave, use light pressure and a hydrating product. Respect the surface.

8. Do Not Apply Random, Scented Lotions From the Back of a Drawer

Some moisturisers are supportive. Others quietly sabotage.

Heavy oils, exfoliating acids and certain active ingredients can break down tan faster.

Hydration is essential for longevity.
But intentional hydration matters.

Choose products that support your skin barrier instead of dissolving your glow.

9. Do Not Take Boiling Hot Showers for the Next Week

Heat accelerates fading. This is not personal. It is chemistry.

Very hot water dries the skin. Dry skin sheds faster. When skin sheds, tan goes with it.

Lower the temperature slightly. Your glow will thank you.

10. Do Not Forget That You Are Now Radiant

This might be the most important rule.

Bronzed skin changes how light hits you. It shifts how colours look. It subtly enhances definition.

Do not act small after investing in that.

Stand properly. Wear the dress. Take the photo.

Confidence should not depend on pigment. But if you chose the glow, enjoy it.

A Brief Reality Check

Tanning should be enhancement, not survival.

If you miss a week, you are still complete. If you are pale, you are not unfinished.

But if you chose to bronze, treat it with care.

A spray tan is not fragile. It just requires common sense.

And perhaps slightly improved shower discipline.
